Muerren is car free, located on a huge cliff above the Lauterbrunnen valley and you will have to use a cable car or cable car / railway to get there. Once you arrive in the village of Muerren, you will have to walk a few minutes to get from either the cable car station Schilthornbahn or the Muerren BLM Railway Station to us. Both stations are in close walking distance.
We are located just next on the right hand side to Hotel Edelweiss.
How to get to Muerren?
Muerren is one of the few car-free villages in Switzerland. So this means you will have to use either the cablecar from Stechelberg (Schilthornbahn) or the cable-car railway Bahn Lauterbrunnen Muerren (BLM) (at the end of your journey. BLM is the easiest if you arrive by railway as you can simply enter the cablecar on the opposite side of the road adjacent to the railway station in Lauterbrunnen when you arrive there. Please note, that you will have to change from the cable car to a railway mid route in Grütschalp. You will be rewarded with one of the most panoramic railway journey in Switzerland with the famouns three mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau just in front of you high above the Lauterbrunnen valley.
Traveling to Muerren via the Swiss Railway Network
If you like to travel by train, there are excellent train connections from Zurich or Geneva to Bern and then onward towards Interlaken Ost. Change in Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen. Another option is to take the train from Lucerne to Interlaken Ost which actually is very beautiful as you can pass through a panoramic mountain pass (Bruenig). Traveling to Muerren by Car
Take the motorway via Bern, Thun, Spiez to Interlaken and then the main road to Lauterbrunnen. You can either park in Lauterbrunnen or if you go to the end of the valley in Stechelberg at the Schilthornbahn station. Nearly impossible to get lost, especially when you use a map service like Google Maps.
